Where can you find electric trikes designed specifically for seniors?

Today we're going to answer the question, where can you find electric trikes designed specifically for seniors? All right. Now, if you're a senior out shopping for an electric trike, you definitely want something that's stable and safe, and you will feel confident riding on it. Designing E-Trikes with Seniors in Mind

I personally am here in San Clemente, and I do a lot of test rides with senior riders over the age of 60, 70, and even 80 years old. And the number one concern I find is stability. Wanna feel stable, want to feel confident, and don't wanna feel like they're gonna tip over. So while there's lots of trikes out there, they're not necessarily all designed for seniors. At Sixthreezero, though, we put a heavy emphasis on designing electric trikes for the senior rider. Because I personally am here firsthand, I get so much of the feedback around what are the major concerns of a senior rider, what are the safety features that senior riders want, and I put those into our designs. Now, our rickshaw is great if you're a senior and you have a partner that wants to ride with you.

Key Features: Recumbent Design & Step-Through Frames

Our Simple Glide, for example, is designed with the senior rider in mind. It's got a chair-height seat that's easy to get on and off, and a very low step-through. It has an elongated frame that makes it incredibly stable. There's also a fat tire version that even increases the stability. And if you watch all of our videos, many, many people comment on how much easier and how much more stable this type of trike is than all the other upright trikes. If you are looking at trikes and you want stability, oftentimes the trikes that are more upright, they're not really designed with seniors in mind because of a couple of things. One, you lose stability as you make the trike more compact and the rider sits taller. And secondly, they are more difficult to get on the seat. So if you go with a traditional setup like the rickshaw, in order to have the seat at a proper height, you have to raise it up.

Right? And so often that puts the rider on the balls of their toes. As a result of that, it can be difficult for a senior rider to climb onto the seat, or they lower it to the point where they can get on. And as a result, then they don't get proper leg extension. That's why often many seniors prefer a recumbent style with the pedals out in front of their body. This allows the seat to be lower, but you can still get the proper leg extension. So, 630, we have various versions of the Simple Glide and other recumbents that are great for senior riders. If you do wanna shop elsewhere, my suggestion as a senior rider is to look at recumbent e-trikes. That is typically the best setup that I find for, again, the over-60, over-70 senior rider. Also, you want a very low stepover height. Now, the fat tire versus thin tire,

Comfort, Stability, and Shopping Tips

If it's an elongated recumbent frame, you don't need the fat tires, but if you want that extra stability, you can also look for fat tires. So those are some of the most important features. You can find different brands that have those features, or again, you can visit us at 630, and we have many of those setups. And this is just from my personal experience. Many people do browse shops online. They might come in for a particular trike. And then when we sit them down on the simple glide or something recumbent, they understand why it's more comfortable. Also, why the pedaling position is better. And mind you, you've got this nice backrest, right? So it gives you back support. It's comfortable, and you can ride for so much longer when your body is comfortable versus a seat that may put you in a little bit of pain. So the back support, the low step-through, and the stability are three of the more important features.
