The TRUTH About Electric Trike Warranties: Which ETrike Brands HaveThem & Which Don't

Which electric trikes come with a warranty and maintenance?

Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I have 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry, and today we're gonna answer the question, what electric trikes come with a warranty and maintenance? All right, so I've got three of sixthreezero's e-trikes here. They're all linked in the description below if you wanna check them out. Our Simple Glide, our Easy Transit folding, and our Simple Glide dual motor. Now, if you're looking to buy an electric trike online, excuse me, warranty and maintenance are probably two very important things, right? You don't wanna spend and make a big investment in something that you're scared is going to break down.

Warranty Information

So you're looking at the warranty and maintenance. Now let's talk about warranty. All electric trike manufacturers are going to come with some level of warranty. If they don't offer something that is at least a year long, then I would definitely steer clear of that brand. At sixthreezero, we offer a one-year warranty, and in that first year, if anything goes wrong, we will take care of it, repair it, you name it, and we will also cover the cost of labor. And what we do is we contract out mobile mechanics that we have relationships with all across the country, which allows us to perform that warranty work as needed. Now, in terms of maintenance plans beyond the warranty, in my knowledge of the industry, I don't know that anyone offers that inclusively as part of the price. Now, if you buy from a local bike shop, that's something that they may offer you as part of their sales process, maybe, you know, a maintenance package of one to two years.

My guess would be, though, for any companies or stores that do offer that, they're going to build that into the price to some extent, but not always. Maybe they have a special offering. Maybe they'll offer you, like, a brake tune-up for the first three years of ownership, something along those lines. Again, you just have to find those specific localized bike shops. As far as I know, no brands actually offer that themselves. And the reason being for that is because they don't have the local service to really offer the maintenance. Now, with sixthreezero, as I said, if you do need ongoing maintenance outside of your warranty period, we have mobile mechanics that can work on our products and can come out to your house and do the repairs. This is particularly important, you know, even if you have a lot of bike shops in your area, not everyone can transport their trike to get it to the shop.

Maintenance and Mobile Mechanics

There are different types of e-trikes. We have lighter-weight folding ones, and then we have our dual-motor ones, which are even heavier. So of course, this is gonna be a lot easier to transport than this. In a lot of cities throughout the country, again, we have relationships, and I would say 99 out of 100 times, we can find a mobile mechanic to work on a customer's trike throughout the country. Now, this may not be true if you're in an exceedingly rural area. Some places are really far away again, but we rarely, rarely encounter that. So just know if you buy any electric trike, those mobile mechanics are out there and they'll work on your trike. The other thing I'll say on the maintenance side, in terms of maintenance of an electric tricycle, the maintenance elements like the brakes, if it has gears, the gears, and anything else just tightening, you know, loosening bolts, whatever needs to be tweaked throughout the years of ownership.

Most of those things can be taken care of by any bike mechanic or mobile mechanic. They don't have to have specific knowledge of your product necessarily. Now, it is true some mechanics won't work on certain brands because of quality concerns or components that they use, but there's not really maintenance that gets performed on the electrical components, right? If the motor and the battery and all those things are working, there are no maintenance things that a shop or mechanic is gonna do to the electrical systems. Now, should you need replacement parts, that's a reason why you should choose a brand that stocks those items. You can get generic off-brand replacements for some batteries, some controllers of e-bikes or e-trikes that exist out there, but oftentimes you may wanna go back to the manufacturer to get a replacement battery.

Replacement Parts

Motor, et cetera, whatever it may be. At sixthreezero, we keep those parts in stock. So at any point during your ownership, you can purchase them should you need to replace something. And of course, we have them on hand for warranty claims as well. So again, any E-Trike company that doesn't offer something of at least a year, I would be a little bit skeptical of them. And of course, for the maintenance plans, I would say look for a local shop. If you do wanna buy locally, that might be something that they offer. Now, the downside of the local purchase may be that your selections are limited, but just know there are mobile mechanics out there if you choose to purchase online, like from sixthreezero; they'll service all e-trikes in the market. So have any other questions or comments on the topic, please put them below or reach out to us, theteam@sixthreezero.mom or call us 310-982-2877.
