Twhe brand-new Tandem electric trike from Sixthreezero.
Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I have 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry, and today I'm joined by Taylor, and we are gonna show you the Electric Tandem Tricycle from Sixthreezero. Let me pump the power up a little bit here. This is obviously a really cool option if you want to ride with a partner or a friend and maybe one of you can't balance. Need a pedaling break? No, I was readjusting. One of you needs a pedaling break, or not a pedaling break, one of you can't balance, or...
Whatever it may be, or you just want to enjoy the ride together. So, also making it into a trike is cool, because now you don't have to balance. So, we're going to go for a little ride and take you along. This is actually Taylor's first time on here. Now, one thing to point out is if one person pedals, you both have to pedal. And if one person wants to stop like that, you both have to stop. So you kind of got to be in sync. And then if you both don't want to pedal, I can twist the throttle here. And we can take a break. All right, now, Horton thing, we're gonna be coming across a slope here, Taylor, so we do wanna lean in a little bit to the left. So this is actually generally something you don't wanna do on trikes, just because you don't wanna ride across slopes, so we wanna make sure we keep both wheels down, no problem. I'm gonna put this into five, there we go.
And we're good. So combined right now, we're at about 400 pounds total weight. And this is a pretty substantial little hill here. Oh, we're still going, got lots of power. No problem with two of us. Communication is key on these tandems. Got it. I'm leaning. A little dippy dip. All right, here we go. Pedal. Leaning. Pedaling. OK. We're good. We're good. Level five. Stay out of the gutter. Got a little bit of an incline here, not too bad. Working together. Helpful when you have both of you pedaling. Oh yeah, I could feel the difference. Difference right there. Education is key. Okay. A fun way to go around the neighborhood. I'm going to show you also now you don't want to ride on sloped areas, but you can go on the sidewalk. I'll show you up here when we get to some flatter ground. We could go on right here, actually. This is not ideal, though, be honest, because all the driveways are sloped. So, like right here, you want to stay to the top. There we go.
But just trying to show you how we fit up here. So you can fit on the sidewalk if that's something you need to do. Just be careful of the sloped areas. And also be careful of protruding bushes. No problem. I'm going to pedal. And so be careful coming down stuff like this, too, because you've got a very wide load. You want to make sure you keep all wheels on the ground. That felt smooth. Yeah. Just like any trike, it takes a little getting used to, and then obviously you have to work with your partner as you're moving, but it is a lot of fun. The more experienced rider should go in the front. That's why Dusty's in the front. Well, we're about to switch.
For a surprise. And then you do want to lean into the turns, lean into the turn a little bit. There we go. But you do, you know, you can trust that it'll stay down the ground. Again, you're not going to get on this the first time and probably feel like you have it figured out. May take a few rides. Yeah. To get the hang of it. Okay, we'll find a nice dead end. I'm not stopping, am I? No. Yes, no. Crank it up to five, see if we can get a little distance out of it. We'll do a U-turn up here. We'll execute a U-turn, show everybody how that looks. Okay, so as the driver, you really have to just turn the wheel. So that's the biggest thing, is there's gonna be this sensation that you think you're gonna tip, but you're not. So you gotta trust the turn. I'll start pedaling and then go with it.
Find a good transition point. Coasting? Coasting. Meddling. Nice on flat ground, isn't it? Yeah, the breeze feels nice. OK, we got a little pathway here that I like. I'm going to show you guys how we can actually fit through it. So. Stop pedaling for a sec. I'll show you guys how I can navigate this. Yeah. So you got a slope here. You just want to be a little bit careful coming up. And again, you see how we were on a little bit of an angle. We didn't tip, and we made it through. Okay. So this is something you gotta be really careful about with any trike, specifically the tandem. Now, you see this slope trying to turn into that is a recipe for disaster. So,
Typically, when you're exiting a sidewalk on this thing, you want to be trying to come out on a straight. So in this, I think we should follow that all the way around until we can make a straight exit. So this is a good point to transition our drivers. First time. Oh, you probably need this a little lower. Just a tad. And this will be Taylor's first time. My first time. My first time as a passenger. Yep, my first time as captain. We got the throttle started so we could get off with our body weight, and now we're on pedal assist four. Let's not go up there. No? No, let's go straight. I think you can turn right up here, right? I'm gonna go straight. Yeah. It's really smooth, feels smooth in the front and in the back, actually.
Yeah, actually it's comfortable back here. I like the handlebar position. Yeah. Okay, we're making a quick little right here. Leaning. Get going again. Actually more stable in the back than I anticipated. I thought I was gonna feel more like... Yeah, unsure kind of. Should I turn right? Yeah, because the left is a dead end. Okay, we're turning. We're leaning a bit, but it's really smooth overall. And you're hearing a little bit of the brake pads as she's holding the brake through the turn. Yeah, I'll hold it less as I get more comfortable, but I'm not as experienced as Dusty. I think you might have to work less in the front. Just kidding. What? I said, I think you might have to work less in the front. I said, just kidding. Lisa, watch out.
I feel like I'm working less in the back. Well, there you go. No, I think you're right, actually. Let's go straight. Straight, okay. Are you comfortable going in the bike lane, or do you want me to? No, I think I want you to. Okay. Yeah, just go straight, and then we'll turn around. Okay. Try putting it in five now. Okay, we're gonna go to pedal assist five, let's see. Oh yeah, it's a game changer. Oh yeah. Feel the wind. Okay, making a little turn. Oh, heads up, Lisa. Car, Lisa. Smooth turn on pedal assist five. Okay, we're making the same U-turn. See if I can do it. So you definitely want to lean to the inside. See if I can do it as well as Dusty. Think I did? You don't have to hold the brakes. I'm not. I'm not holding them. Oh, you're not holding it. No. Oh. I think your foot was touching something. So it felt like I couldn't pedal. All right. Take us back to that park, and then we'll transition, and I'll bring us down the home stretch. Okay. Okay.
Yeah, it's really comfortable. And I feel really stable. Sometimes I get a little nervous on treks at first, but I think with the two-person, I feel really stable in the back as well. So go straight, then make a right. Or just follow this around. Okay. Yeah, I mean, the key really on the tandem is you do have to be in relative communication about what you're doing. This is a good relationship test. You either get in a fight, or you get home in good spirits. We're turning right. Feel better about the turns after just a few? Yeah, I was worried about not having control back here, but it feels fine. I was nervous that I had too much control back there. Also, you have, like, a little sense of confidence, reassurance that someone else is on the bike with you if you are a nervous bike rider like I am.
Okay, we're going left? Yep. Okay. Okay, we're gonna check for cars. Going to the left. Actually, pull the brakes really quick. Now let them out. OK, now go. Just a little rub on that rear brake pad. We just need to work those in a little bit. We're still on pedal assist, as we have been basically the whole time. Coasting. Coasting. Communication. You can stop right up by the garbage, little garbage can. Okay. The pet can. Yes. I see it. Okay. Coming to a stop now. Stopping. Easy, I liked it. Oh, parking brake? Yes. Safety first. Wait, I don't think I've used this parking brake. Oh yeah, pull it and then push this down. Oh, push down. Okay, got it. Cool, all right. Well, we're gonna transition, and I'm gonna ride us home, but the tandem e-trike, it's a lot of fun, honestly, and yeah, you could switch whoever drives and who rides in the back. Yeah, it does take a little getting used to, but it's really cool, it's a lot of fun.
