How do I maintain the motor and the battery on my electric trike?
Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I have 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry. Today we're going to answer the question: How do I maintain the battery and motor on my electric trike? All right, right here I've got two of our e-trikes, our Simple Glide dual motor, dual battery, and our Rickshaw. Both are linked in the description if you want to check them out. All right, now I speak to a lot of customers here in San Clemente, and often everyone wants to know, okay, so what's gonna be required from a maintenance standpoint on my e-trike, specifically the motor and the battery, like what do I need to do to maintain it?
Quite honestly, with the motor, there's not really much you can do maintenance-wise or anything you need to do maintenance-wise. And actually, if we encounter issues with our motors, whether it be a warranty claim or something's defective, we replace the motor, the full wheel, or the full motor in the rear. We don't actually go in there and repair it. Not to say it's not impossible, but my point is that there's nothing you can do on the inside, or oiling or greasing your motor, that's going to help maintain it longer.
The actual motor itself is a sealed motor inside of there, so there's nothing in particular you need to do to maintain that. Just general common sense care of your trike, and storing it in a covered, dry place indoors is gonna be your best option.
All of the same general storage principles apply to the battery as well. Here are key tips to maintain your battery's health and longevity:
Avoid overcharging: Do not leave batteries on the charger longer than necessary. Unplug the charger as soon as the indicator light turns green to prevent degradation or overheating.
This is why even in Tesla cars, they prevent you from, or they want to advise you not to charge your battery all the way up. Now that's not the case with the trikes, but again, they're also trying to manage the charging as well to not overheat the batteries or damage the batteries in any way. Now I will say, we don't frequently have these issues related to charging and things, but these are just small maintenance tips, again, to get the most out of your battery. And to get the longest lifetime. So, if you have any other questions or if you have suggestions on the maintenance of the motor and batteries on your e-trike, put them below. Also, you can reach out to us at theteam@sixthreezero.mom, or call us at 310-982-2877. Don't forget, both of these e-trikes are linked in the description if you want to check them out. In addition to that, we offer a 30-day test ride for your e-trike policy. If you don't love it in the first 30 days, send it back. No questions asked, no money out of your pocket.
We're also gonna warranty everything for a year. Anything goes wrong in the first year, we'll take care of it, parts and labor. In addition to that, join our community before you purchase. We have a Facebook group called Sixthreezero Pedalers. Join the group before you purchase to talk to existing riders to ensure you're making the right choice. Then, when you have yours, post to the group, make friends, and finally download the app to track your rides and compete on the leaderboard. So thanks for sticking around, and don't forget, it's your journey or experience. Enjoy the ride.
