Diane, from the Sixthreezero team in San Clemente, hosted a special test ride event for three friends curious about the world of electric trikes. For Deb Wald (66), Daniel Horn (67), and Linda Levine (66), this was a milestone moment: their very first time experience on an e-trike."I ride a road bike and a tandem road bike, but I have never ridden a trike, much less an e-bike," shared Linda. "I'm really excited for this journey"
Linda was the first to take the Simple Glide E-Trike for a spin. The experience began with a quick adjustment of the ergonomic seat and armrests to ensure a perfect fit. While she is an experienced cyclist, the transition to three wheels and electric power was a brand-new sensation. Starting in manual mode to get a feel for the trike's natural balance, Linda soon engaged the pedal assist. "Holy cow! It has such a great kick to it," she exclaimed after shifting to level one. "The difference is unbelievable. I'm actually blown away by the power and the comfort. The back support is incredible compared to being bent over on a traditional road bike.
Next up was Daniel, who hadn't ridden a bicycle in nearly twenty years. For him, the primary draw of the e-trike was the inherent stability of the three-wheel design. "You don't have to worry about balance at all," Daniel noted. "It's very easy. I haven't ridden a tricycle since I was probably six years old, but once you get on, it just clicks." Daniel explored both the pedal assist and the throttle, finding the Simple Glide to be much more intuitive than he expected. He was particularly impressed by the turning radius and the comfort of the seat, enjoying the ability to cruise without needing "Daniel energy" to keep the bike moving.
Deb admitted to being a little nervous before her turn, but those nerves quickly vanished once she felt the security of the frame. "I feel secure. I don't feel like I'm going to wobble or fall over," she said during her ride. Deb experimented with higher pedal assist levels, enjoying the "wind in her hair" feeling on the straightaways. She also appreciated the safety features, like the easy-to-use parking brake that ensures the trike remains stationary when mounting and dismounting.
The consensus among the group was clear: the Simple Glide e-trike offers a unique blend of power, comfort, and safety that makes cycling accessible and fun for seniors. Whether it was the ergonomic support, the surprising "kick" of the motor, or the total lack of balance concerns, everyone left their first ride overjoyed.
